This is a fucking annoying problem since almost a year. I’ve fucking very high spec iMac. My iMac with macOS Catalina keeps freezing when I’m working with Xcode. It continues to freeze almost every week. It freezes when I’m writing code in Xcode. It has been freezing on almost all recent versions of Xcode starting from 11.2 to 11.3.
It seems that problem is related to Xcode.
I didn’t happen so frequently in the past pre-Catalina release.
Some people have reported that they get this crash when an external monitor is connected to iMac.
Following is the snippet of log when crash happens.
panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff7f8169dad5): userspace watchdog timeout: no successful checkins from com.apple.WindowServer in 120 seconds
service: com.apple.logd, total successful checkins since wake (1770 seconds ago): 178, last successful checkin: 0 seconds ago
service: com.apple.WindowServer, total successful checkins since wake (1770 seconds ago): 166, last successful checkin: 120 seconds ago
There isn’t any solution so far. I hope Apple will fix this fucking issue in future releases of macOS.

Hi Josh, I’m also facing this exact similar issue. It keeps crashing when I’m editing Xcode. I also have an external monitor. My iMac is of basic configuration. I’ve many windows and browsers opened while I work. Could this be an issue?
The exact cause of problem is unknown. I also keep plenty of apps opened. I’m pretty sure that this crash issue is related with Xcode as it always happens when I’m working with Xcode which is what do almost all the time. I’ve never faced any crash issue on my Macbook Pro, not a single crash but I don’t use Xcode so this further confirms my hypothesis that the problem I’m facing is to do with Xcode.
External monitor can be also blamed but I’m yet to confirm that.
There is no solution so we are fucked till Apple finds a fix.
